Ah Qiu (played by Danny Lee) was once a trained police officer. Now retired, he works as a taxi driver, living a life of dependence with his son Dong Dong. Although it's tough, their life is filled with warmth and happiness. One day, Ah Qiu's ex-wife suddenly reappears before him, now the wife of mafia boss Zhao Zhongtian (played by Lung Fong). She has only one purpose for this visit: to take Dong Dong away from Ah Qiu.
Having lost his only son, Ah Qiu falls into despair amid his anger. He learns that Zhao Zhongtian plans to take Dong Dong to America, where they may never see each other again. In a moment of desperation, Ah Qiu takes a group of students hostage at an elementary school, hoping to use them to get Dong Dong back. Zhuo Liren (played by Donnie Yen) is a capable security guard, and Qi Hong (played by Gigi Leung) is an experienced journalist. With their help, can Ah Qiu realize his wish?
