The story takes place in 1950s Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where 18-year-old Ulidice and 20-year-old Jida are inseparable biological sisters living with their conservative parents. Despite the traditional family values, both sisters harbor their own dreams: Ulidice aspires to be a professional pianist, while Jida longs for true love. After a dramatic turn of events, the sisters are forced to part ways, and their dreams are put on hold due to life's harsh realities. Nevertheless, they never give up hope of finding each other again.
