This film tells the story of General Mu Shengzhong leading his troops to transport grain to Tibet twice in 1954. They crossed swamps, encountered bandits, climbed high mountains, endured altitude sickness, faced violent winds and snow, and suffered tremendous hardships. They finally reached Lhasa but at a great cost, with almost the entire army of 28,000 camels lost. General Mu Shengzhong conceived the idea of building the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. His idea received support from Peng Dehuai and Zhou Enlai. The construction team faced various difficulties during the roadwork: camel workers were in low spirits, resources for road construction were scarce, the climate and environment were harsh, soldiers starved, and workers fell ill. With his steadfast belief and wisdom, General Mu Shengzhong ultimately overcame all hardships and completed the 2,100 kilometers of Qinghai-Tibet Highway in just seven months and four days, bringing endless blessings to the people of Northwest China and the Tibetan region.
