Shi Jinshui (Stephen Chow) and Wu Daidi (Karen Mok) grew up together in the countryside, childhood sweethearts who made a private vow to be together for life. Due to Daidi's father's opposition, they had to elope to live in the city. At first, Jinshui faced many setbacks in his job search, and the couple lived a frugal life. After getting a job, Jinshui worked hard and gained the recognition and support of his boss, Nancy.
