During a bodyguard mission, while lending a horse to passing detective Hong Yunhu (played by Liu Jiahui), Wen Biao discovers that his brother Wen Bao is smuggling opium. Wen Biao wants to bring Wen Bao to justice, but instead, he is severely injured by Wen Bao and the head escort and thrown into the river. Wen Biao manages to crawl onto a wooden raft of a local girl, Xiao Min... One year later, Chen Jiadong, the son of the Chen family, is obsessed with drawing a monkey boxing manual. Despite having no knowledge of martial arts, with the help of "Uncle" Chen Qiude (played by Wu Jing), he gains ample conditions to draw. The two search for the heir of monkey boxing in town and coincidentally encounter Xiao Min, who has already made significant progress in the art. Chen Qiude follows Xiao Min and sneaks a glimpse to learn some moves. When Hong Yunhu visits the Zhenyuan Escort to express his gratitude, he finds that everything has changed there. Chen Qiude's boasting of monkey boxing is discovered by Hong Yunhu, who, overjoyed, rushes back to Zhenyuan to bring the news, unaware that he is leading trouble straight to the reclusive Wen Biao…
