During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, the heavily guarded imperial treasury was brazenly robbed of two million taels of gold by ruthless bandits. The chief inspector, known as "Massacre" Leng Tianying (played by Chen Kuan-tai), was tasked with capturing the group of bandits led by Fang Fengjia (played by Ku Feng) within ten days. During the pursuit, Fang Fengjia deployed a large number of bandits disguised as villagers to ambush Leng Tianying and his men, resulting in heavy losses. Leng Tianying was also caught off guard and sustained serious injuries, finding himself in a dire situation. At this moment, he learned a colossal secret... This film's screenplay is adapted from the renowned kung fu director Chang Cheh's 1969 movie "The Iron-Fisted Monk." It is the only period martial arts film in the career of director Kuei Chih-hung, focusing on themes of human desire, overcoming greed, and self-sacrifice, creating a unique atmosphere of solemnity and depth.
