During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Hu Yidao and Miao Renfeng (played by Wan Ziliang), known in the martial world as "Southern Knife and Northern Sword," meet for a competition. Both are highly skilled and chivalrous, and although they are rivals, they have a mutual respect for each other. During this time, Mrs. Hu gives birth to a son, named Hu Fei. To guard against unforeseen events, Hu Yidao entrusts his wife and child to Miao Renfeng. On the final day of the competition, Hu Yidao is injured by Miao's Sunrise Sword and tragically succumbs to poison on the spot. Hu's servant, Ping A-Si, realizing the dire situation, takes secret martial arts manuals and escapes with Hu Fei to hide in the deep mountains to evade the pursuit of Tian Guinong. Meanwhile, Miao Renfeng, filled with guilt, buries the Sunrise Sword and Half-Moon Sword in the tomb of Hu Yidao and his wife, vowing to sheath his sword for ten years. As the years pass, Hu Fei has grown into a dashing and skilled young hero (played by Huang Rihua), who inadvertently encounters Miao Guinong and Alan, who are being pursued by Miao Renfeng, igniting his desire for revenge against the man who harmed his father. He descends the mountain, only to be caught in the turmoil of the martial world... This film is adapted from Jin Yong's martial arts novel "The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain."
