In "The Seven Heroes of the Dragon Gate," the sixth hero is killed during a night investigation at "Zhao Qing Temple," prompting the leader of the seven heroes, Wen Suchan (Qiao Zhuang), to seek revenge. The temple's abbot, Kongming (Tang Di), is notorious for his evil deeds, harassing the carpenter's sister, Qin'er (Li Jing), and colluding with treacherous officials to plot the murder of inspector Lin Ti'an (Li Ying) at the Sun Viewing Pavilion. The Lin family accidentally falls into a trap and ends up in the sea, but fortunately, Wen secretly protects them and rescues Lin's daughter, Hongyu (He Lili), from the water. Lin orders Wen to attack "Zhao Qing Temple" to retrieve the list of traitors, leading Wen to infiltrate the temple's sutra pavilion for a final showdown with Kongming. Zhang Che’s script infuses the movie with the traditional Chinese spirit of chivalry, featuring an array of contraptions and explosive scenes that provide extreme visual stimulation. The ultimate battle between Wen Suchan and Kongming significantly influences Zhang Che and the development of modern martial arts films.
