The hero Qi Rufeng raises Fang Gang (Wang Yu), the son of his servant Fang Cheng who died saving him, with the intention of making him the leader. This decision causes jealousy from Fang Gang's elder martial brother. Qi Rufeng's daughter, Qi Pei, who is in love with Fang Gang, teams up with her brother to challenge him to a duel but accidentally severs Fang Gang's right arm. Fang Gang, injured, escapes from the Qi family. After being saved by the young girl Xiao Man (Jiao Jiao), Fang Gang, initially in despair, regains his confidence thanks to her encouragement and practices the "Left Hand Divine Saber" technique using the secret manual left by Xiao Man's father. Qi Rufeng's enemies, the smiling Erlang and the Long-Armed Demon, kill all the Qi disciples and imprison Qi Pei and Qi Rufeng. Out of respect for his teacher, Fang Gang decides to assist the Qi family despite past grievances.
