During the Qing Dynasty, the patriots in Guangzhou actively contacted the line of Zheng Chenggong in Taiwan to expel foreign invaders. General Duan and Teacher He, among others, were suppressed by the Guangzhou general Tian Da while trying to rescue their anti-Qing comrades. Teacher He’s student Liu Yude (played by Liu Jialing) was heavily involved in the anti-Qing movement, and his entire family was harmed by Tian Da's henchman, Tang Sanyao. Liu Yude narrowly escaped, enduring hardships to reach the Shaolin Temple, hoping to learn Shaolin kung fu to help the suffering common people and avenge his family. At that time, the Shaolin Temple had thirty-five chambers, with thirty-four dedicated to training in strength or martial arts. Liu Yude, known by the Dharma name San De, was exceptionally talented and, after five years of arduous study, mastered all thirty-four chambers. Upon completing his training, Liu Yude proposed to the abbot to establish the 36th Chamber of Shaolin, aimed at accepting lay disciples and spreading Shaolin martial arts. Seven years after leaving his hometown, Liu Yude returned to Guangzhou, taking in young disciples such as Hong Xiguan and Lu A’cai, and launched a series of fierce battles against the Qing court's henchmen... This film won the Best Action Effects Award at the 1978 Asian Film Festival.
