The Iranian cinematic masterpiece "The Chess Game of the Wind" (1976) has been restored this year and is participating in multiple film festivals, though it has rarely been seen before! The film was selected for the Tehran International Film Festival in 1976 and had a screening, but unfortunately, the screening was maliciously disrupted— the projector malfunctioned, and the film was damaged, leading the festival judges to withdraw it from the competition. Without any distributors willing to invest, the producer did not send the film to any other festivals or hold any public screenings (it is said that famous figures Henri Langlois, Roberto Rossellini, and Sayeh Zahra watched it at some private screenings and praised it highly). After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the film was banned due to its non-Islamic content. Subsequently, the original negatives were lost, leaving only a censored low-quality VHS version circulating. Over forty years later, the director's son accidentally discovered the 35mm negative and sound reel at a flea market selling vintage costume accessories! He immediately purchased it and sent it to France.
