In the later stage of World War II, Allied pilot Owen (Paul Kersey) is forced to land at the foot of the Great Wall after his plane is hit by a Japanese warship. In a life-threatening situation, he is saved by the Eighth Route Army and local people. Soon after, soldier Heizi (Wang Xinjun) and English-speaking female medic Anjie (Ning Jing) are ordered to escort him to the base. To cross the Yellow River, Heizi first takes Owen and Anjie back to his hometown, where they encounter many obstacles and nearly lose their lives. Through communication with Anjie, Owen gains a deeper understanding of China and gradually falls in love with the beautiful, intelligent, and strong Anjie. The Yellow River is just ahead, and just when they think they can cross smoothly, the Japanese troops suddenly arrive and launch a frenzied attack on them.
