In the Warring States period, Lord Ju Cong (played by Wang Xueqi), the lord of the small town of Lu Yi in Zhao State, holds a grand wedding ceremony with his beloved Li (played by Fan Bingbing), presided over by the priest (played by Wang Ji). At that moment, news suddenly arrives that the Qin army is approaching, pressing towards Changping, forcing Lord Ju Cong to lead his troops to the front lines. As a result, the battle of Changping ends with the complete annihilation of Zhao's forces. After the war, Xia (played by Huang Jue), a fierce warrior from Qin, escapes from the battlefield to return home to harvest wheat.
