In Los Angeles, Japanese trading companies are negotiating with the United States to introduce the latest electronic technology. To achieve success, they spare no effort with surveillance systems and lip-reading techniques... That night, a murder occurs in the Japanese trading company building, where a white woman is found dead in a conference room. Detective Weber (Wesley Snipes) is assigned to investigate the case and is assisted by John Connor (Sean Connery), who is currently suspended, because Connor has worked in Japan for many years and understands how to deal with the Japanese. Weber and Connor investigate the victim's home and review the incident footage sent by the Japanese side, initially identifying the suspect as the victim's Japanese lover, Eddie (Hiroyuki Sanada).
