In 1920s Paris, Japanese artist Tsuguharu Foujita fell in love with the city. His unique interpretation of nude women captivated the entire Montparnasse art scene. He had close friendships with art masters like Fernand Léger, Chaim Soutine, Pablo Picasso, and Amedeo Modigliani. His life was colorful and vibrant, but during World War II, he returned to his homeland Japan. His life and beliefs were shattered by the war, and he and his wife secluded themselves in the small northern town of Aomori, hiding from the conflict.
