Fifteen-year-old Mia (Katie Jarvis) is rebellious and eccentric, getting herself into trouble that not only leads to her expulsion from school but also causes her best friend to leave her. Mia loves to dance, but there seems to be hardly anyone who cares about her passionate dance steps until a man named Connor (Michael Fassbender) appears. Connor is her mother’s boyfriend, and during his time living with her mother, Mia is drawn to this handsome and kind man. With Connor's support and encouragement, Mia gets the chance for a dance audition, and her relationship with Connor deepens. However, the real world is not as beautiful as it seems... This film is directed by the emerging British filmmaker Andrea Arnold, who won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 for "Red Road." This is her second feature film.
