Campbell (James Spader) was once an excellent FBI agent, but now, he just wants to quickly get to Chicago to start a peaceful retirement life. In fact, over the past few years, Campbell has been investigating a serial killer named Griffin (Keanu Reeves), who is unlike typical perverted murderers; he possesses a high IQ and emotional intelligence, always able to escape at the most critical moments of his crimes. Campbell, who has faced repeated failures at work, decides to give up, but Griffin clearly is not tired of the cat-and-mouse game with this old detective.
