The superbly directed French movie star Mathieu Amalric, following his first César Award for Best Actor in "The King and the Queen," collaborates again with renowned French director Arnaud Desplechin in "A Brilliant Youth," playing the anthropologist Paul, who reminisces about his youthful experiences from childhood to adolescence. Influenced by Chuff, director Arnaud Desplechin employs rich and varied staging, capturing the bittersweet love between the lead characters with an elegant French sensibility, reminiscent of the revival of the French New Wave.
