Detective Tai Lin (played by Pan Yueming) accidentally meets a girl named Liu Yun (played by Yuan Quan) who has attempted suicide. He rushes to save her, and Liu Yun tells him that she ended her life because her boyfriend deceived her emotionally. However, what follows turns into a comical farce. It turns out that Liu Yun is a theater actress who is seeking inspiration by experiencing life. Tai Lin feels both angry and attracted to her. A few days later, Tai Lin meets Liu Yun at their agreed location, where she asks for his help in finding the man Bai Ju (played by Wang Gang) who once saved her life. Out of professional habit, Tai Lin investigates Liu Yun's background and discovers that she has no father.
