Due to an accident, seasoned assassin Frank (Morgan Freeman) is captured. However, during transport, Frank and his guards are ambushed by his accomplices, and the injured guard and Frank both fall into the river, their fate unknown. Ray (John Cusack) is preparing for a fun camping trip with his son Chris (Jamie Anderson) when two men float down the river—the guard and Frank. The guard informs Ray that Frank is a dangerous criminal and insists that he must take Frank to court. Frank, a principled assassin, has a rule: he will eliminate his target at all costs. With Ray, who is devoted to justice, on one side and the cunning Frank on the other, an unarmed war begins between the two.
