In 1930s Hong Kong, with social unrest and rampant gangs, the wealthy tycoon Mr. Hu seeks out private detective Ai Yao (played by Lin Zixiang) to investigate Mrs. Hu, suspecting her of strange behavior. After his investigation, Ai Yao discovers that the villainous Father Kaban (played by Ma Jia) has been seducing Mrs. Hu with the intention of stealing Mr. Hu's priceless stocks. When their plan is uncovered by Ai Yao, they chase him down. In a desperate situation, Ai Yao finds out that Mr. Hu is not a real tycoon but just a con artist, who came to Hong Kong to swindle money from criminals like Kaban. Mr. Hu invites Ai Yao to join forces and set a trap for Kaban. After consulting with his friend Inspector Robin (played by Teddy Robin), Ai Yao decides to turn the tables on them.
