Megan (played by Barbara Stanwyck) and her fiancé Jones (played by Walter Connolly) are about to step into the marriage hall together. Jones is a devout Christian, and to support his missionary work, Megan follows him to China. In an unexpected turn of events, they accidentally stumble into a military restricted area, where they meet General Yen (played by Nils Asther), leading to a deep friendship among the three. Over time, General Yen gradually falls in love with the innocent and carefree Megan, and their relationship becomes closer. General Yen suffers a devastating blow in his career, resulting in betrayal and abandonment by those around him. During this crisis, Megan chooses to stand by General Yen loyally.
