Joel Edgerton will write and direct the new film [Boy Erased], starring Lucas Hedges, with Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe expected to join. The film is adapted from Gerald Conley's memoir of the same name, telling the story of a pastor's son in a conservative town in Arkansas (played by Hedges) who faces rejection from his family due to his sexual orientation, with Kidman and Crowe portraying his parents. Filming is set to begin this fall. Story Synopsis: In a feudal conservative town in Arkansas, the 19-year-old son of a Baptist minister comes out to his parents. The boy is forced to participate in a church-supported conversion therapy program to "cure" his homosexuality or risk losing his family, friends, and faith. Initially, he undergoes a brutal treatment involving 12 steps, but ultimately finds the courage to escape and choose to embrace his true self.
