This film presents a heartbreaking story set during the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup in Paris through the perspective of journalist Julia (played by Kristin Scott Thomas). In 1942, occupied Paris was asked to surrender its Jewish residents. Ten-year-old Sarah (played by Mélusine Mayance) and her family also fell victim in this tragedy. As the army's search party approached, Sarah secretly locked her younger brother in their home's cupboard to protect him and carefully kept the key, hoping this would save him from being captured by the Nazis. However, Sarah, longing for her brother, realized that this escape would not be short-lived, and she desperately fled from the concentration camp to return home. Yet, what awaited her was not only the new residents who had moved in, but also the tragic news of her brother who had met an unfortunate fate in the cupboard. Julia, tasked with investigating this story for work, not only uncovers the truths that were buried at the time but also discovers her deep, seemingly predestined connections to Sarah's family.
