Every dream has a price; what are you willing to exchange for it? By day, she is a telephone operator; by night, she performs at clubs. With her unique voice, Monica steps from being an unknown singer into the high-end nightclubs of New York, becoming the hottest female star during the golden jazz era of the 1960s! The hedonism and all-night revelry that accompany her fame gradually lead her to lose herself. Faced with her parents' misunderstanding and the continuous departure of lovers, the empty and lost Monica can only rely on her wine glass to welcome the morning. Is the pursuit of dreams always accompanied by painful sacrifices...? About savoring the fragrance of violets, the splendid life that emerged from the ordinary. "Monica Zetterlund" is set against the backdrop of the golden jazz era of the 1960s, with classic songs weaving a rich tapestry of Monica's dramatic rise to fame condensed into 1-2 years, focusing on key events that catalyze a delicate portrayal of the dilemma between dreams and family, and the anxiety and longing for love. Nordic singer Edda Magnason crosses into film, bringing her warm yet coldly captivating Nordic voice to recreate an extraordinary charm. Monica Zetterlund was born in 1937 in Sweden. Not fluent in English, she taught herself by listening to the radio and records, capturing the melodies, rhythms, and musicality of jazz, gradually solidifying her singing ability. The singers who influenced her the most were jazz legends Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. After being asked, "Why do you sing other people's songs instead of expressing your own life?", she started to reinterpret classic jazz songs in Swedish, unexpectedly gaining fame. However, beneath the glamorous stage life, Monica struggled with severe scoliosis. At age 60, she performed at a popular rock festival, captivating a young rock audience with her unique jazz charm, and two years later announced her retirement. Monica spent her final years in a wheelchair, passing away in May 2005 due to a fire caused by a cigarette in her Stockholm apartment.
