Once, the great magician Maskare (portrayed by Hrithik Roshan) amazed the world time and again with his extraordinary skills and stunning performances. Unfortunately, a mishap during one performance forced him to face a tragic fate of lifelong paralysis. Under the tender care of nurse Sophia (played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), Maskare's "life of paralysis" was fairly decent, and at the same time, he continued to contribute to the magic community using his intellect and words, despite being confined to bed. Over time, however, Maskare realized that his thinking was becoming muddled, and his physical skills were deteriorating due to prolonged immobility, meaning that it wouldn't be long before he truly became a "vegetable." Aware of his dire situation, Maskare made a shocking request to Sophia: to help him end his life.
