Ventura wanders through the gloomy, boundless corridors and dark rooms of the hospital. He seems to still live in 1975, when the revolutionary army, holding carnations, overthrew the dictatorship, which should have brought brighter moments for Cape Verdean migrants. However, the shadows of history continue to stain the lives of his relatives, an old woman from the neighboring village, and a woman who quietly reminisces about the past, immersing them in endless darkness. Following the award-winning 2009 Cannes Film Festival entry "Youth in Revolt," Costa once again delves into Portugal's history, a night of surreal dreams.
