"Marshall" is based on the true story of Thurgood Marshall, the first African American justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. The story takes place in 1941 and follows Thurgood Marshall and a white lawyer defending a black driver accused of raping a white woman. The two attorneys, driven by a sense of justice yet of different races, go from strangers to trusted allies, working closely together to clarify the case and ensure a fair trial. This film, adapted from Marshall's true story, is both a powerful biopic and a gripping courtroom thriller. The film "Marshall" is expected to be released during the 2016 U.S. elections, aiming for an "Oscar push." It has gathered a talented cast and crew from Hollywood. Chadwick Boseman stars as Marshall and is also rumored to appear in "Captain America: Civil War." The screenplay is by Jacob and Michael Koskoff, with the former having been nominated for a Cannes Palme d'Or for "Macbeth," and the latter being the chair of the Connecticut State Bar Association. The film is directed and produced by Regina King, who won an Oscar for "12 Years a Slave."
