This film is adapted from the life of Howard Hughes. Howard Hughes (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) was born in Houston, Texas. At the age of 18, he inherited his father's wealth from Texas oil wells and moved to Hollywood with dreams of becoming a filmmaker. In 1926, he gained control of 125 theaters and spent millions of dollars to produce the epic war film "Hell's Angels," becoming a famous producer. In 1939, he took over Trans World Airlines and quickly turned the company profitable, collaborating with the U.S. military during World War II on the invention and improvement of the Spruce Goose aircraft. While achieving tremendous success in his career, Howard Hughes also suffered from depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. His romantic life was tumultuous, with Katharine Hepburn (played by Cate Blanchett) and Ava Gardner (played by Kate Beckinsale) leaving him, which greatly affected him. The film selects important life events of Howard Hughes and authentically recreates his legend.
