In 1916, the Arab Revolt broke out. Lieutenant Lawrence (played by Peter O'Toole) of the British army was ordered to the Arabian Peninsula and decided to lead the Arabs in capturing Aqaba. During the journey across the desert, Lawrence defied the odds and returned alone to rescue the missing Gasim (played by I.S. Johar). This act earned him the respect of many, and Ali ibn el Kharish (played by Omar Sharif) even allowed Lawrence to wear the Sherif's robes, which Lawrence gladly accepted. However, the Arab tribes were not harmonious; Gasim from Harith killed a member of the Howeitat tribe, leading to rising tensions. To quell the dispute, Lawrence personally executed Gasim, but he was left feeling troubled by the thrill of killing. After successfully capturing Aqaba, Lawrence quickly traversed the Sinai Peninsula back to Cairo. General Allenby (played by Jack Hawkins) was overjoyed, promoted Lawrence to Major, and placed great hopes on him…
