Zhang Yingxiong (played by Wang Qiang) has been living under the indulgence of his parents since childhood, making him somewhat weak in character. One day, Zhang Yingxiong’s father, Zhang Suqing (played by Yao Peide), dies of a heart attack during a dispute with Lu Zhiqiang (played by Xu Jiangning), an official from the government demolition office. Left with no choice, his mother moves in with her brother, living as guests in their home. The treatment they receive from the uncle and aunt is not very warm, which further exacerbates Zhang Yingxiong's feelings of imbalance, leading him to seek revenge on Lu Zhiqiang.
Zhang Yingxiong moves out of his uncle's house and starts working as a waiter in a small shop, from where he can see Lu Zhiqiang's home.
