A spaceship crashes in a small town near Washington, and when people wake up, they find that those around them have become cold and unfamiliar. Psychiatrist Carol (Nicole Kidman) and her assistant Ben (Daniel Craig) go through many challenges to discover that this change is due to an alien virus infection.
