Everyone has experienced the frustration of a terrible morning. Oversleeping, stubbing a toe, bumping a head on the way downstairs, burning the toast for breakfast—Arthur Dent (played by Martin Freeman) is having a particularly bad day, and it gets worse. The government has decided to demolish his house, and his friend Ford Prefect (played by Mos Def) reveals he is an alien looking for the new edition of the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." The most alarming news is that aliens are building a hyperspace bypass, and Earth is a hurdle to their progress, so they are about to destroy it. With Ford's help, Arthur boards a spaceship belonging to passing aliens just before Earth is obliterated, escaping from this doomed place and beginning a wondrous adventure through the stars. During his journey, Arthur discovers that a towel is the most useful thing in the universe, encounters the precise meaning of life, and finds out that everything he needs to know is actually written in a book called "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"…
