Fat Cat, a mentally challenged adult sentenced to prison for a crime, is released on bail. Social worker Maggie is assigned to care for Fat Cat. She picks him up from prison and takes him to a remote island to pay respects to his parents, but they become separated due to a traffic accident, and Fat Cat finds himself wandering alone. He is taken in by an elderly man, Uncle Wu, and due to his simple and optimistic personality, he wins the villagers' affection and resolves misunderstandings between the old man and a young neighbor. The three of them become friends, and Fat Cat happily spends some time with them. Fat Cat participates in a village performance, which Maggie sees on TV, prompting her to go to the village to retrieve him. Unexpected police intervention leads to Fat Cat being severely injured.
