"Gold Mountain" tells the story of how, in the early 20th century, the Canadian government recruited laborers from China to build a railway running through Canada from north to south. In the film, Sun Li plays "Little Tiger," who disguises herself as a boy to come to Canada in search of her father, who is working there. As she navigates a perilous and unfamiliar environment, she also dreams of striking it rich, only to find herself falling in love with the son of a railway tycoon in the dangerous and lonely world of Chinese workers... Sun Li won the Best Actress award at the 2009 Rome Film Festival for her performance in this film.
