This film tells the story of Wang Xiaoshuai (played by Wang Tali), who is despised by his wife's family as an outsider. Facing life's difficulties, he decides to give up everything to pursue his dreams, and thus reconnects with his old classmate, Xiao Dabo (played by Xiao Yang). The two, who parted ways due to a girl named Ma Lu (played by Qu Jingjing) who played the cello, come together again and decide to head to America to compete in a talent show. After much hardship, the two brothers arrive in New York but find themselves inadvertently embroiled in a gang dispute. Although they only want to achieve a good ranking, a series of hilarious events ensue, and they are baffled to discover that two mysterious assassins from North Korea are somehow related to their journey. Left with no options, these two "old boys" decide to go all in! Whether they can successfully turn the tide, or fall victim in a foreign land, all hinges on the final competition! The Old Boys: A Wild Go to America is the big-screen continuation of the viral microfilm "The Old Boys" from five years ago.
