Paul (Robert De Niro) is a New York mob boss who deeply fears he has a heart condition. Although his medical report shows no signs of any issues, he consults his divorced psychologist friend Ben (Billy Crystal) at the recommendation of an old acquaintance. During the therapy sessions, Paul’s mobster demeanor terrifies Ben, but this exchange alleviates Ben's anxiety. Subsequently, even when faced with troubles in his love life, Paul feels comfortable confiding in Ben. However, Ben, who is on his honeymoon with fiancée Laura (Lisa Kudrow), is clearly unprepared for this. The police discover the doctor’s connection to the mob and send him undercover.
