The story takes place during the Yuan Dynasty, where the legendary assassin Zixia Wolf (played by Shin Hyun-joon) stands on the roof of a noble mansion, gazing at the woman who has captivated his heart for life, filled with mixed emotions. Many years ago, the descendant of the Goryeo people, Liu Zhenhe, a traveling performer (played by Ki Joo-bong), roamed about while practicing martial arts. He accidentally rescued the daughter of a Mongolian general, Xue Li, in the forest. The innocent friendship between the boy and girl deepens into a profound attachment over ten years of companionship. However, fate plays a cruel hand, forcing Zhenhe to part ways with Xue Li (played by Kim Hee-sun). Xue Li is constrained by her father and is about to marry the only son of the Nangong family, Nangong Jun Guang. After mastering extraordinary martial arts, Zhenhe learns about his true identity and, through many twists and turns, reaches Xue Li's side, only to find that he cannot change his destiny. Now, as Zixia Wolf, Zhenhe finds himself at odds with the Nangong family, and he can't help but drift further away from the cherished Xue Li...
