Between this cup of wine and the next cup of wine lies their entire life. Though awake, they are still drunk; the boy Mouse drifts aimlessly through life, hanging around the vegetable market. Just when he encounters a mute girl blocking the street, life gains a new focus. Mouse idolizes his cousin's boyfriend, Shuo Ge, who turns out to be a heartthrob, a popular male escort in a hotel. Even Mouse's openly gay brother, Shang He, is captivated. Is it the wine that makes people dizzy, or does life become clearer the more you drink? Faced with Shang He's allure, Shuo Ge's seemingly unchanging life principles begin to waver. Unable to establish a home, the boundaries between love and gender blur, and everything remains possible. As they dance close to death, they spark an extraordinary vitality, with the shadow of their mother looming. Are they seeking light in the dark, or is it just an empty dream pursuit? Vivid and intense imagery, fierce themes, youth and desire swell with nowhere to release, a culmination of Zhang Zhuo-Ji's filmmaking, reflecting back from the dual edges of city and life, creating a page of ruin aesthetics, also an aesthetics of the discarded.
