In 1984, the six-year-old son of the Odone couple, Lorenzo, was diagnosed with a rare disease known as ALD (Adrenoleukodystrophy), which doctors declared to be incurable. However, the Odone couple refused to give up hope, challenging the inadequacies of the medical community in various ways. They invented a specially formulated oil for Lorenzo, ultimately saving him from the brink of death and benefiting other families suffering from the same condition.
