Is fate truly predetermined? On an ordinary, chaotic Christmas night, Jonathan (played by John Cusack) meets Sara (played by Kate Beckinsale). In just a few short hours, they fall hopelessly in love with each other. Although they both have their own social circles and partners, after spending an entire night happily strolling through the streets of Manhattan, dawn arrives and they must face reality. Sara refuses Jonathan's request to exchange numbers and decides that everything will be left to fate. A few years pass in the blink of an eye, and they never cross paths again. At this point, Jonathan is preparing to enter into marriage, while Sara has also received a proposal ring from her boyfriend. Yet, a book or a movie poster can make them involuntarily reminisce about that Christmas night years ago. The night before his wedding, Jonathan begins to search for Sara using clues left from years past.
