On November 4, 1979, the Revolutionary Guards of Iran stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking embassy staff hostage. More than 50 people were held captive, but 6 managed to escape and hid at the home of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor (played by Victor Garber). CIA executive Jack O'Donnell (played by Bryan Cranston) contacted expert Tony Mendez (played by Ben Affleck) for help in bringing those six individuals back to the U.S. After discussions, the CIA decided to adopt Tony's plan to disguise the rescue as a film production. Tony reached out to his Hollywood friends, makeup artist John Chambers (played by John Goodman) and producer Lester (played by Alan Arkin). Tony selected the script for "ARGO," a film very similar to "Star Wars." As the producer, he traveled to Iran with the script and various props, found the six individuals, and began the arduous journey to escape Tehran... This film is based on a true story and won three Academy Awards at the 85th Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Editing, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
