Once a famous star, the glory of Veronica (played by Rosel Zech) has long since become a thing of the past. Now, she is just a forgotten relic. Sports journalist Robert (played by Hilmar Thate), a former fan of Veronica, sees her again and finds a washed-up actress addicted to alcohol and narcotics. He decides to help her. Veronica lives in the clinic of Dr. Katz (played by Annemarie Düringer), where many other down-and-out individuals are like her. Robert discovers that the clinic's doctor is exploiting his position to inject these people with morphine, controlling and extorting their money. Robert wants to expose this crime but struggles to find evidence. Veronica decides to make a comeback, but this decision adds the final weight to her impending death.
