In 2003, the Iraq War broke out. The Saddam government was severely damaged, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) became a powerful excuse for the United States to invade Iraq. A small team led by Roy Miller (played by Matt Damon) was tasked with finding WMDs within Iraq; however, countless searches yielded nothing, leading Miller to doubt the sources of intelligence. During one operation, he encountered a local one-legged man named Fahadi, who informed him that several key Iraqi figures were gathering in a certain location. The operation unexpectedly revealed that Al-Rawi (played by Yigal Naor), who was on a playing card wanted list, was among them, and Al-Rawi seemed to have a complex relationship with the U.S. government. Ignoring warnings, Miller launched an independent investigation and discovered that the so-called WMDs were merely lies concealing countless ugly truths... This film is adapted from Rajiv Chandrasekaran's work "Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq’s Green Zone," a journalist for The Washington Post stationed in Baghdad.
