Mainland undercover police officer Gong Wei (played by Jet Li) is unable to provide more care for his seriously ill wife or offer more affection to his understanding and skilled son Gong Gu (played by Xie Miao) due to work obligations. When his wife and son desperately need him, Gong Wei, under orders from his superior, disguises himself as a criminal and escapes with a Hong Kong gangster named Xiao Hei (played by Kuo Shouliang) who has been captured by the mainland. He embarks on a mission to infiltrate the gang of Fu Guang (played by Yu Rongguang) in Hong Kong. During a bomb deal, Gong Wei engages in a black market duel and saves Hong Kong inspector Fang Yihua (played by Anita Mui), earning the trust of Fu Guang through his outstanding skills. Fang Yihua travels to Beijing to investigate Gong Wei's identity, learns the truth, and after Gong Wei's wife passes away, she leads Gong Gu to Hong Kong to find his father. Fang Yihua's superior reveals the identities of Gong Wei and Gong Gu, putting Gong Wei in a dangerous situation, as a robbery planned by Fu Guang is also imminent…
