Lorelei Lee (Marilyn Monroe) and Dorothy Shaw (Jane Russell) are great partners on stage and good friends in life. The dazzling duo attracts the attention of countless men, but they are not just pretty faces; in terms of intelligence, Lorelei and Dorothy are as sharp as anyone. One day, Lorelei boards a ship bound for France to marry her boyfriend, Gus Esmond (Elliott Reid). On the ship, they encounter a man named Gus (Tommy Noonan). It turns out that Gus is a private detective sent by Esmond's father to test Lorelei's sincerity towards his son. As time passes, Dorothy gradually falls in love with the kind-hearted Gus, but Lorelei clearly has her eye on another "golden groom" for her good friend.
