In New York over a century ago, corrupt politicians vying for the city's official leadership employed unsavory tactics; meanwhile, gangs of Irish immigrants, the "Dead Rabbits" and the "Natives," brazenly fought for territory and everything they could seize in the Five Points, Bowery, and Paradise Square areas of Manhattan... Poster of "Gangs of New York" The old leader of the "Dead Rabbits," Priest Vallon (Liam Neeson), is killed by the leader of the "Natives," Bill the Butcher (Daniel Day-Lewis). The young son of the deceased, Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio), inherits his father's position. Of course, his first "deal" upon taking office is to kill Bill to avenge his father. However, years of conflict between the gangs have blurred the lines of right and wrong, and Bill the Butcher is indeed a cold-blooded, remorseless killer, making Amsterdam's revenge plans extremely challenging.
