12-year-old girl Darva is strictly controlled by her pedophile father from a young age and molded into the appearance of a Barbie doll. She believes she is a woman and that loving her father is not wrong, until her father is arrested. This film is the feature debut of French director Émanuelle Nicot, who takes on a challenging moral theme, using a restrained and clear cinematic language to address serious and sharp social issues. The camera closely follows the protagonist Darva, documenting her arduous process of transformation from a constructed mature woman to a young girl through self-awareness and gradual learning. The young actress Selda Samson, who plays Darva, received the Rising Star Award at the Critics' Week of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival for her powerful performance, and the film also won the FIPRESCI Prize in the parallel sections of the Cannes Film Festival.
