The story takes place at the end of the 21st century, when various countries on Earth finally found a way to coexist peacefully. They worked together and set their sights on expanding into the vast universe. However, within this broad expanse of space, there are also beings from other planets, and war becomes inevitable in the struggle for resources. In an accident, Will (played by Dennis Quaid) crashes his spaceship on an unfamiliar planet, and he is not alone; an alien named Jerry (played by Louis Gossett Jr.) is also stranded there. At first, Will is filled with suspicion towards Jerry, even trying to kill him multiple times. However, as time passes and their understanding deepens, Will discovers that Jerry possesses intelligence and civilization far superior to that of humans, leading to a strong friendship between the two different species from separate planets.
