The story is set in 1969. Ilias (played by Yorgos Karayannis) is a 10-year-old boy from Athens who is very fond of astronomy and the novels of Jules Verne. Ilias greatly admires his father. His father is a traveling salesman who unexpectedly dies in a traffic accident during a business trip. Before leaving, Ilias's father promised to return home in time to watch the live broadcast of the moon landing with him, and his unexpected death plunges the entire family into grief. However, Ilias refuses to accept this fact and firmly believes that his father is still alive, so he creates an imaginary world. He shares science fiction stories with his friends and even writes letters to his grandmother in his father's name. He plays both roles, as if his father is still by his side. Ilias's mother and his godfather constantly try to bring him back to reality, so they take him on vacation.
